The 5 Types of Liposuction

If you take a look at the Lifestyle Lift cost you’ll see that it has become more affordable. But before you decide to undergo the procedure, you’ll want to familiarize yourself with the different options. Here are the most popular ones and a general overview of how they work.

Traditional Liposuction

This process uses general anesthesia, and once it takes effect, the surgeon opens an incision and puts a cannula in the fat. The cannula and a vacuum pump suction are used to remove fat cells.

After the fat is removed, the incision is stitched close. A drainage tube may be used as well to avoid buildup of fluids.

Super-Wet Liposuction

This method doesn’t use as much fluid as the tumescent method, but it does need general anesthesia. The process takes one to two hours, and it is safe enough to be undertaken with other surgical procedures.

Tumescent Liposuction

In this procedure saline fluid made of adrenaline and lignocaine are injected in the fat area. What the solution does is separate the muscles and fat.  The fat is solidified and pulled out but without causing heavy blood loss.

A cannula is applied back and forth to destroy the fat, while a syringe or vacuum is used to remove it. It is important that not all the fat cells are removed as it might lead to skin dents and scars.

The process takes longer than the traditional method but is more effective. Usually the process takes 4 to 5 hours and there is no need for general anesthesia.

Ultrasound-assisted liposuction (UAL)

The UAL method is often used where fat is hard to remove such as the ankles, calves, knees, cheeks, neck, male breast and the upper back.

The UAL technique uses ultrasonic energy to destroy fat cells. These sound waves turn the fat into liquid and is removed using a cannula. The UAL is frequently used by surgeons followed a tumescent operation to add the final touches so to speak.

Another benefit of UAL is it tightens your skin. Usually you need to undergo a body lift or tummy tuck to get rid of baggy or excess skin, but UAL eliminates the need for it.

Conclusion

So which method is the right one for you? It depends on what you need, your budget and physical condition. You need to talk with your doctor and consider your personal requirements before going through this process.
